“Hiroshima enjoyed an established traditional iron-working technology since olden days typically called as Aki’s ‘Ten-ri’ (Aki is the old name of Hiroshima and Ten-ri means ten tools made of steel which end with the same character pronounced ‘ri’ in Japanese) and also had ample human resources rich in skills and expertise including those of shipbuilders from the naval base in Kure region.For the plant site which required a vast area,a former salt field was utilized and its investment to plant construction was financially supported by the local business community.
The company also enjoyed advantage of many local industries which already existed.
Mazda has grown in this way in the vehicle industry based in Hiroshima.
